“Turn STEM into STEAM” presented by Marisol Garcia, AP Literature and Composition teacher, IDEA College Preparatory Alamo, Texas

STEM skills are not just for science and math classrooms! Discover how STEM becomes STEAM as you develop a project-based lesson plan around Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein. This step-by-step webinar will guide you through the entire process of planning this interdisciplinary unit, from preparing rubrics, lessons and assessments to guiding students through hands-on activities designed to help them find their own answers to a driving question. Activities include:

- Reading the novel

- Conducting science experiments

- Researching current uses of genetic manipulation

- Participating in a mock trial for the advancement of science

- Organizing a community science fair

By the end of this webinar, you’ll walk away with a concrete understanding of how STEAM and PBL can lead to deeper learning as well as a complete unit you can put into practice in your classroom.
