Tara Linney

Bio: Tara Linney is an international award winning educator, currently based in Seattle, Washington where she works as an EdTech Coordinator facilitating the 1:1 program and teaching a computer science course at The Northwest School. Since 2014, Linney has spoken at nearly 100 conferences in 10 different countries, impacting the work of thousands of educators all around the world. In 2016 she received the 21st Century Learning Award for Innovation in Educational Coaching. In 2018, Tara authored and published the book, Code Equity: Keying Girls into Coding, as a guide for educators looking to make a more equitable learning environment for their students, particularly in the teaching of computer science topics. Linney earned a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of South Florida in 2006. Later, after spending 7 years working in the fields of marketing and public relations, Linney made a career pivot into the field of education. In 2012, she earned her M.S. in the Science of Instruction, as well as an Instructional Technology Specialist certification from Drexel University. She has been an ISTE member since 2010, and served as the ISTE Global Collaboration PLN President from 2017-2018. Linney currently serves as an Advocacy Leader on the Computer Science PLN, focusing on advocating for computer science access in the K-8 level.
