In this webinar, we’ll showcase a crowdsourced list of the top 10 innovative tools every new teacher needs and share how teachers can use these tools to motivate and engage students. We’ll address questions like: How do you use these tools for teaching, learning or mentoring? How can these tools be used to enhance teaching and learning at all levels? What are the concerns about using these tools? How can these tools be used in support of  the new ISTE Standards for Educators? The session will also include a group discussion segment.

Bio: I am a French and Spanish Teacher, and designed the course STEAM" "What’s nExT? in Emerging Technology." I am an Attorney and have a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology. I am President of the Teacher Education Network and Communications Chair for the Mobile Learning Network. I received the Presidential Gold Award for Volunteer Service to Education and the Making IT Happen Award in 2019. I was selected as One of "20 to watch" by the NSBA and 2017 PAECT Outstanding Teacher of the Year. I am a Future Ready Instructional Coach, Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, and Google Certified Educator. I am the author of In Other Words: Quotes that Push Our Thinking, and The Future is Now: Looking back to move ahead, and Unconventional Ways to Thrive in Education. Bio: I am an Associate Professor of special education at Kent State University. My research interests include the use of technology to support classroom behavior and promote self-regulation.

 

Dennis McElroy

Bio: Taught High school science and computer programming for 8 years. Served a technology director for three school districts. Received MS Curriculum and Instructional Technology in '92. Worked as technology consultant for Iowa Dept. Of Education. Taught at Drake University School of Education and am currently at Graceland University's Gleazer School of Education. Served as Board member and Vice President of Iowa affiliate (ITEC). Elected to local school board. Received PhD in CIT in 2004. Served on ISTE Advocacy Board for past three years. Reviewed award winners for ISTE past three years.

 

Jennifer Courduff

Bio: Dr. Jennifer Courduff is a Professor at Azusa Pacific University in the School of Education: Teacher Education. She teaches and develops courses for Azusa Pacific University's Master of Arts: Learning and Technology program. In this capacity, she works with pre- and in-service teachers in the process of deep integration of technology (including assistive technology) into learning activities. The focus of Dr. Courduff’s research is technology integration for teachers of students with disabilities. Her publications and presentations bring to light the unique technology integration challenges found in diverse learning environments. Most recently, she has developed a theory on exemplary technology integration in special education instruction. This theory extends the constructs of TPACK to more clearly define knowledge, skills, dispositions, and belief necessary for authentic technology integration to occur in special education instruction. Her theory has been applied to revision of in-service professional development assistive technology / augmentative alternative communication certificate training in the county of San Bernardino, and in pre-service coursework within the Learning and Technology Master’s at Azusa Pacific University. Dr. Courduff is dedicated to improving the preparation and ongoing support for systematic, authentic technology integration for teachers of all students. She has served as the chair of the Special Education sub-committee for ISTE TEN, and has presented similar sessions on accessibility though SIGml's lightening webinar series (January, 2013), ISTE's Mobile Learning Webinar series (December, 2013), and ISTE’s Professional Learning Series (February, 2016).

 

Chip Cash

Bio: Chip is a 30plus-year veteran of high school mathematics classes, and cut his technological teeth teaching programming, computer skills, and mathematics with the dawn of graphing calculators. Along the way he worked to bring technological integration into mathematics, and encouraged high-level programming. He taught in Louisville, KY, Englewood, NJ, Princeton, NJ and London, UK. He currently teaches at Princeton Day School. He served as a Network Leader for ISTE's Project ReimaginED, and as a judge for ISTE's Educators Awards. He is currently the Communications Chair for ISTE Teacher Education Network.

 

Susan Poyo

Bio: Dr. Susan R. Poyo has been teaching for over 25 years. Her experiences both in and out of the classroom extend from K-12 to Higher Education and Adult Education. She is the recipient of the 2016 Research Award for Innovation for the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL). Currently an Assistant Professor at Franciscan University, her pre-service teachers are a constant source of encouragement and inspiration for her research, presenting both nationally and internationally on TPACK, Curriculum Design and Assessment, and Online Learning. Susan earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education from Florida State University, her Reading Specialist Certification from Fayetteville State University, her Master of Science in Education at Franciscan University, and her doctorate in Instructional Technology from Duquesne University. Preparing teachers to educate the 21st century learner is her passion as she engages her students in critical thinking, inquiry and practical application of effective integration of technology.
